A LEADING tech business that lists Iceland and Pets at Home as its clients teamed up with two of the world’s top printing companies to offer a virtual reality racing experience for guests at a major retail exhibition in London.

Barron McCann, which provides IT services to customers throughout the UK and Europe and has its headquarters in Derby, collaborated with American firm Lexmark and Japanese multinational electronics company Epson to give visitors to its post-Retail Technology Show the chance to try out VR racing in a simulation car.

The Retail Technology Show – an annual exhibition held at London’s Olympia – connects the industry’s changemakers and brings together Europe’s most forward-thinking retailers and leading tech innovators.

Featuring speakers from High Street giants such as Iceland, Boots and Pets at Home – who were commended for their work with Barron McCann last year at the Retail Innovation Tech Awards – the show featured more than 400 exhibitors.

They include Retail Assist; the company acquired by Barron McCann owner Alan Watson earlier this year. The Nottingham-based provider of managed services and IT solutions works with brands including Harvey Nichols, Morrisons, Hobbycraft and Ted Baker, and has recently added pizza restaurant Papa Johns to its growing roster of clients.

Chloé Farmer, Head of Marketing and Communications at Barron McCann, said: “The Retail Technology Show is the industry’s top event and attracts the UK’s leading brands. It’s the event where you can discover the latest trends, challenges, and insights. “

Gary Piper, Sales Director from Barron McCann said: “We are delighted to have collaborated with Epson and Lexmark, who are leaders in their field, for our Barron McCann soirée.

Gary Stringer of British rock band Reef performed for guests of Barron McCann at The Retail Technology Show in London.

“Our guests were able to put their driving skills to the test in simulation cars created by VRE Virtual Reality Experience Limited, who are experts in simulated racing.

“We learned so much from the event, too, and are looking forward to working on some major projects in 2024.”

Barron McCann also treated guests to a performance from Reef frontman Gary Stringer, who sang the British rock band’s hit ‘Place Your Hands’.

Gary said: “I had such a blast at the Barron McCann event. It was a fantastic evening and I’m truly stoked to have been a part of it.”
