The director of East Midlands healthcare firm SureScreen Diagnostics has spoken of his pride following a visit to Buckingham Palace for a royal reception held in honour of this year’s King’s Awards for Enterprise winners.
David Campbell and his brother Alastair were among a host of business leaders to attend the event, which was hosted by King Charles III and other members of the Royal Family, including the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.
SureScreen Diagnostics was invited to the event after it was named as a double winner in the awards, having triumphed in both the Innovation and International Trade categories for its achievements in designing and manufacturing ground-breaking lateral flow tests during the COVID pandemic and its long history of exporting.
The event was also attended by representatives from industry leading companies from across the UK with David and Alastair speaking to the King about the awards.
During their conversation, the King asked the brothers about the company’s future and the local impact of the business.
David said: “We discussed with him about how the Lateral Flow technology can be adapted to be used in a wide number of settings and for future health outbreaks. He also asked us about our base in the Midlands and the wider economic impact of the business.
“It was an extremely proud moment for our company and a testament to the hard work of the team over many years.”
