A world-renowned DJ and Brit award nominee has been announced as the final act lined up to perform at this month’s N-Dubz concert in Derby.
Nathan Dawe, who hails from Burton originally, will be performing at the event before Tulisa, Dappy and Fazer take to the stage at the Incora County Ground, home of Derbyshire County Cricket Club.
The DJ made it to number three in the UK charts with his second single Lighter, featuring KSI, a song which received a nomination for a Brit in May for Best British Single – competing against the likes of One Direction’s Harry Styles.
Hot on the heels of his Brits nomination, he also remixed Little Mix’s No Time For Tears, which went on to secure him his third UK Top 20 single, and has collaborated with Anne-Marie and Ella Henderson.
Nathan Dawes, who has a new single coming out with Joel Corry, said: “I’m over the moon to be performing so close to my home town. I’m really looking forward to putting on a huge show.”
Joining Nathan in supporting hip-hop and grime headliners N-Dubz will be former Love Islander turned singer Will Nelson and singer songwriter Erin Bloomer, whose song SAD earned more than 60 million plays on Spotify and local act Olivia Mason who performs as Lyvia.
Also warming up the crowds will be JK, a nominee in four categories at the PTC Punjabi Music Awards and winner of the Brit Asia World Music Awards Best Album Award 2011, who will appear on stage with DJ CZR a music producer and DJ based in Derby.
Tickets for the gig, which makes up part of N-Dubz’s first summer tour in 11 years, are selling fast.
The concert is being brought to the city by promotor Nathan Thaker, who owns Icons Talent. He said: “We’ve been saving the best big name until last – but we are absolutely thrilled to be adding Nathan Dawes to our fantastic line-up.
“This event is going to have a festival vibe, with some seriously good music, from big names – right here in Derby.
“Having Nathan here will be the icing on the cake – he’s a local lad who has worked with some of the biggest names in music – so we know he’s going to be a massive draw and we know the atmosphere will be electric before NDubz even take to the stage.”
N-Dubz dominated the charts for six years between 2006 and 2012. They have sold 1.3 million albums, with their first two albums Uncle B and Against All Odds certified Platinum in the UK.
In 2009 they hit No.1 on the UK Singles Chart with the Number One – their smash-hit collaboration with Tinchy Stryder.
The band has won four MOBO awards – Best Newcomer in 2007, Best Album and Best Act in 2009 and Best Song in 2010 for their single Playing with Fire. And they won a O2 Silver Clef Award in 2009 and were nominated for Best British Single at the BRITs in 2010.
