Derby diners are being invited to sink their teeth into arguably the city’s biggest and boldest yuletide treat yet – an all-in-one three-course Christmas meal burger.
Annie’s Burger Shack in Friary Street has pulled out all the stops by serving an unforgettable festive foodie feast combining a Christmas starter, main course and dessert together in its towering Yuletide burger.
Costing £15.90 and available in vegan, veggie and meaty versions, the burger starts with salad and the patty itself, which is then topped with a layer of traditional bread stuffing.

A slice of turkey – or vegetarian seitan turkey loaf for non-meat-eaters – is then laid on top, followed by gravy, on top of which is placed a deep-fried camembert covered in panko breadcrumbs, a layer of cranberry sauce and a sausage wrapped in bacon.
This is followed by the dessert, in the shape of a Rice-Krispie and marshmallow Christmas tree and a Grand Marnier orange Christmas pudding truffle.
Established in Nottingham in 2009, Annie’s opened its Derby restaurant in 2018 and has become famous for its elaborate menu of 34 different burgers, each of which has an individual theme, name and combination of ingredients.
Its Yuletide burger is the most adventurous dish on its menu so far and Annie Spaziano, owner of Annie’s, says that it is already going down well with diners since it was launched last week.
But she says there has been a noticeable take-up from diners for the non-meaty version of the Yuletide burger, showing that the increasing popularity of vegetarian and vegan food is not slowing down for Christmas.
She said: “We’ve always done a special Yuletide burger for Christmas and putting it altogether and deciding what works well on the burger is one of my favourite jobs of the whole year.
“People come in to taste our Yuletide burger every December and this has gone down well so far, and we’re definitely getting more orders for the veggie and vegan versions than ever before.
“We’re even getting orders from people who would consider themselves to be meat-eaters but are going meat-free more often. That’s a sign that plant-based food alternatives are so much better these days than they used to be, and our non-dairy camembert and seitan turkey loaf are certainly delicious.”
