09/03/2021

A Derbyshire artisan bakery has hopped on the Easter egg trend and created a range of egg-stravagent Easter inspired doughnuts – including a giant Mini Egg Masterpiece.

Project D, which was recently named Lloyds Bank Small Business of 2020, is super egg-cited about its upcoming release of hand-crafted chocolatey doughnuts, which include ‘Dream Egg’, a signature puddle doughnut dipped in milk chocolate glaze, filled with vanilla frosting and topped with an entire Cadbury’s Crème Egg.

There is also the ‘Lemon Dream’ doughnut dunked in lemon fudge icing and a bath of blended digestive biscuits with a raspberry fudge drizzle and a sprinkle of white chocolate for those of you who prefer a tangy treat.

Or to keep it in line with the Easter ‘#bunnyseason’ theme, opt for the ‘Break Time Bunny’, which is dipped in raspberry fudge icing, covered in sprinkles, drizzled with lemon fudge and topped with a Kit-Kat Bunny.

Perfect for sharing (or not) is the XL Mini Egg Masterpiece which is covered with Project D’s staple white chocolate glaze, topped with an army of Cadbury’s Mini Eggs, Lotus Biscoff crumb, chocolate sprinkles and a whirlwind of milk chocolate – and is available with a choice of filling.

Max Poynton, one of Project D’s directors said: “If you are looking to mix up your Easter Egg Hunt this year, why not swap traditional eggs for one of our egg-cellent doughnut boxes, including our ‘Spoilt for Choice’ box, which features four egg-ceptional sweet treats.

“We love nothing more than getting our heads together and inventing imaginative and tasty toppings for our doughnuts. These are egg-actly what people need in these strange times.

“They have already been a big hit, particularly at our pop-ups which are happening throughout February and have attracted really large crowds. The response to our pop-ups has been incredible and we’re very excited moving forward.”
