WHILE foodies across the UK have been going crazy for the KFC/Pizza Hut mash-up that is The Popcorn Chicken pizza, it seems that diners in Derby prefer something a little more sophisticated.
COSMO Derby has, for a limited time only, launched a heart-shaped pizza topped with shredded duck; perfect for the one you love this Valentine’s Day. It is the only restaurant in the chain to be serving duck pizza.
The doughy delight has been a huge hit with diners eating at the city centre restaurant and head chef Wee Goh has been delighted with his creation.
“We knew that there would be a big buzz around the launch of the KFC/Pizza Hut creation and so we decided to come up with our own, unique Asian-fusion pizza,” he said, “and obviously duck is a term of endearment here in Derby.
“There is a restaurant in Sweden which serves its pizzas with all sorts of crazy toppings, such as banana, kiwi fruit and the Pizza a la Duck, which not only has duck meat, but only mushrooms, blackcurrants and honey on it.
“The duck pizza has been hugely successful with our diners. Some have turned their noses up at the idea of duck on a pizza – it’s almost as divisive as pineapple on a pizza!”
COSMO Derby’s Duck Pizza is available until Friday, February 14 during the evening only. The restaurant also has launched a new dessert menu, which includes a limited-edition Nutella cheesecake.
COSMO Derby opened five years ago and serves more than 150 dishes drawn from more than 10 world cuisines, including China, Japan, India and Brazil, as well as a full British carvery.
The restaurant enjoys playing an active part in the community and is currently operating Charity Tuesdays, where every child accompanied by a full paying adult eats for just £1 – with the proceeds being donated to Derby County Community Trust.
