A Derbyshire brand and strategy business founded by a couple who met on a Covid lockdown date has won its first major award just eight months after setting up.
Q Branch Consulting, founded by Matt Clutterham and Jenny Jarvis, was crowned the winner of the Outstanding Collaboration category of The Business Desk’s Business Masters East Midlands Awards at a ceremony in Nottingham on October 3.
The business won the award for its collaboration with Nottingham-based male suicide prevention charity Tough to Talk.
Q Branch Consulting is a brand and strategy agency that helps small to medium enterprises (SMEs) achieve growth. The business fuses the talents of life coach Jenny and former lighting designer turned branding expert Matt, who has worked with some of the biggest business names in the world such as Bacardi, Samsung and Sony.
The business has been working with Tough to Talk, a charity which is aiming to reduce male suicide by delivering its ‘tough talks’ in male-centred workspaces, encouraging men to share their feelings and admit if they are struggling, so they can get the help they need and be diverted from dying by suicide.
Q Branch Consulting has created a brand new website for Tough to Talk, which has resulted in a 500 per cent increase in online engagement and a significant boost to its revenue.
Matt said: “I’m blown away that just eight months after starting out, Q Branch Consulting has won this prestigious award. We are extremely proud of our work with Tough to Talk, which is helping this important charity cut through the noise and be heard so it can deliver its life-saving work.
“One of our important brand values at Q Branch Consulting is ‘togetherness’ and our work with Tough to Talk perfectly illustrates that. Tough to Talk’s work helps men feel a sense of togetherness and that they are not alone in feeling the mental struggles and pressures that very sadly leads so many to take their own life. We could not be prouder that our first award at Q Branch Consulting should be for our work in a cause that is very dear to our hearts.
“We would like to thank The Business Desk and the awards judges for recognising our efforts, we were shocked and delighted to win!”
TheBusinessDesk.com’s East Midlands editor, Sam Metcalf, said: “Tonight’s shortlisted and winning companies were part of another huge show of support for our Business Masters Awards.
“One thing the judges remarked upon during the judging session was the sheer strength in depth of the entries and I think this is the reason why the East Midlands continues to be one of the most economically dynamic regions outside of the south-east and the businesses in the room tonight play a huge part in making it that way.”
Tough to Talk’s website, created by Q Branch Consulting, contains bold visuals, clear messaging and a wealth of information including common suicidal behaviours in men, with many partners of those lost to suicide saying they had no idea what was coming. One indicator that a man may be about to take his own life is a sudden uplift in mood, and another is the giving away of possessions.
