Leading HR & Employment Law business Precept welcomes two new members to growing team

14/08/2023

A LEADING HR & Employment Law company has welcomed two new members to the team as it celebrates being shortlisted for a regional award.

Derby-based Precept has appointed experienced Lucy Laughton as its Business Development Manager, whilst University of Derby student Fortune Ikemefuna has joined the company on a temporary basis as a Digital Marketing Specialist.

Precept, which offers support to employers of all shapes and sizes with their HR and Employment Law needs, , has also recently been shortlisted in the Small Business category of the Business Masters awards. The final will take place at the Crowne Plaza hotel later this year.

Lucy, a motorsports photographer who spent eight years working in construction, says that she is looking forward to being an ambassador for Precept and supporting businesses in the city.

“I love meeting people and developing relationships, and I’m looking forward to building long-term relationships and sharing the Precept ethos of doing things differently,” she said.

“Derby is a great city – I’m a season ticket holder at Derby County – and that’s why I’m pleased that Precept have recently become partners of Derby County Community Trust.”

Lucy began her career working for her dad, Arthur Titterton, and it was the former solicitor and president of The Law Society who told her of the good work being done by Precept and its Managing Director and founder, Rob Tice.

“I worked for Dad for several years and so it is nice to have gone full circle and be involved in law once more,” added Lucy, who has photographed some of the top names in motorsport including the Turkington family; she is a big supporter of teenager Lewis Turkington, who is fronting a campaign called Driving for Dyslexia which helps raise awareness and help children with Dyslexia to realise their true potential.

Fortune, meanwhile, just completed his Masters degree in Marketing Management at the University of Derby. He relocated to Derby in 2022 after completing his undergraduate degree in Marketing at Redeemers University in Nigeria and his appointment at Precept was made possible via the DRIVEN programme at the University of Derby. This appointment showcases how Precept is dedicated to breaking the mould in the delivery of its advice.

He said: “Precept is a fantastic company to work for, and my placement has enabled me to apply my educational knowledge and experience to offer value while also gaining an understanding of the Human Resources and Employment law industry.”

“My job is to conduct a digital marketing audit for Precept, map out and recommend actionable strategy to keep them ahead of the rivals, and I’m enjoying my time here.”

Managing director Rob Tice said: “We have gone through a period of growth recently at Precept and are delighted to welcome Lucy and Fortune to the team.

“They offer a wealth of experience and fit our ‘fresh and accessible’ approach perfectly; to do things differently with a no-nonsense attitude, and to continue to build meaningful relationships with clients and our community.”
