Multi-platinum N-Dubz to play open air gig in Derby

05/04/2023

Hip-hop and grime trio N-Dubz have announced they will headline an open-air gig in Derby in June as part of their first UK tour in 11 years.

Tulisa, Dappy and Fazer reformed earlier this year and will play at the Incora County Ground on June 24, with support from Love Islander turned singer Wes Nelson.

The news comes after the announcement that legendary rockers The Who will also play at the cricket ground as part of their UK tour called The Who Hits Back!

N-Dubz dominated the charts for six years between 2006 and 2012. They have sold 1.3 million albums, with their first two albums Uncle B and Against All Odds certified Platinum in the UK.

In 2009 they hit No.1 on the UK Singles Chart with the Number One – their smash-hit collaboration with Tinchy Stryder.

The band has won four MOBO awards – Best Newcomer in 2007, Best Album and Best Act in 2009 and Best Song in 2010 for their single Playing with Fire. And they won a O2 Silver Clef Award in 2009 and were nominated for Best British Single at the BRITs in 2010.

They returned last year with the release of their new single Charmer – an instant classic N-Dubz song featuring the trademark storytelling of Dappy and Fazer, alongside vocals from Tulisa.

Local entrepreneur Nathan Thaker, owner of city-based Icons Talent, has arranged the concert in a departure from the company’s usual role of bringing actors to film on location in the county.

He said: “This gig is going to be absolutely massive, because N-Dubz are back and better than ever. Derby is my hometown and I am determined to bring some of the best events to the city – I really want to put it on the map.

“Securing Wes Nelson too is a real coup, he has a following in their own right, so this gig will be a real attraction for music lovers across the generations.

“This is an exciting time for Derby. The Incora County Ground is a brilliant space for a summer concert and with more venues on the way as part of the city’s revamp I hope this concert is the start of things to come.”

Tickets, which will cost £45 and £65 for the golden circle, will go on sale later this month and will be available from www.derbyshireccc.com.co.uk
