A TALENTED baker who has spent the last four years building up her small business has joined a growing Derby accountancy firm as she aims to ‘help others achieve their business dreams’.
Rose McCarthy is the latest recruit at award-winning Vibrant Accountancy. She is the company’s bookkeeper and says that the ‘caring ethos’ at the Lodge Lane-based company is what attracted her to the role.
“Vibrant Accountancy are passionate about what they do and have a great, caring ethos,” said Rose, who did bookkeeping for her own business – Poses Pantry – before joining Vibrant.
“I thoroughly enjoy having my own business but I wanted a career where there is scope for progress. I also wanted to be a part of a business who are helping others to achieve their business dreams.”
Rose, who is being tutored by her partner Robert Dalton – a chartered accountant – is currently studying for her AAT exam and, in her spare time, she will continue to run Poses Pantry from her kitchen.
“I did an artisan bakery course five years ago that saw me travel all over the UK learning the tricks of the trade,” said Rose, who lives in Mapperley.
“I was awarded top baker and, after completing the course, I decided to set up my own micro-bakery making and selling brownies, cakes and sour dough.
“I love treating people and baking fills me with joy. Of course I’ve made the Vibrant team triple chocolate brownies, and they were a hit!”
Rose’s appointment bring the Vibrant team brings further bookkeeping resources to support clients, helping free them up to focus on running their business.
Owner Bev Wakefield says that this is an exciting time for the business, who have recently welcomed several new clients.
“We have grand plans for Vibrant Accountancy in 2023, including a leadership programme for entrepreneurial business owners called Lean On Vibrant,” said Bev.
“We’ll continue to offer annual budgeting, cashflow forecasting, company accounts, tax returns and bookkeeping – everything that you associate with an accountancy firm – but will also expand our business coaching and growth strategy services.
“Vibrant are champions of local businesses and we want to shout louder about some of those great people doing great things right on our doorstep with networking events; the likes of Claire Twells at Smith Partnership, Chloe Maudsley at the Derbyshire Institute of Sports, Rob Tice at HR & Employment Law specialists Precept and Sarah King and Claire Dunn, founders of Obu; an angel investment organisation that encourages more women to invest.
“We are excited about the future and Rose will play a huge part of that. She complements the Vibrant team perfectly.”
