A popular city centre restaurant has won a national award after being nominated by members of the public.
COSMO Derby has scooped the title Best Buffet Restaurant at the annual Food Awards England, which was presented at a prestigious ceremony in Manchester’s Mercure Piccadilly Hotel.
It is the third time the London Road restaurant has won this award, having previously been presented with it in 2017 and 2018.

The seventh Food Awards England highlights establishments that serve the best dishes and COSMO represented the East Midlands at the event.
To celebrate the award win the restaurant, which serves 150 dishes from around the world, is offering diners a 20% discount between Monday and Thursday for the rest of the month.
Cosmo spokesman Kan Koo said: “After two hard years of pandemic restrictions, we are bouncing back with more energy and commitment for good quality food, good value and a great selection of dishes.

“We would like to thank the voting public and assure them that Cosmo will continue to offer the very best value in the casual dining sector despite the inflationary pressures.
“I’d also like to express gratitude to all the hardworking Cosmo crews, without them there would be no Cosmo.
“The entire Derby team works hard to ensure the restaurant consistently serves up incredible food and delivers outstanding service, so this award win is testament to their hard work and dedication.”
Cosmo Derby seats 330 diners and can serve as many as 1,000 people on a busy Saturday with dishes from 10 different countries including China, Japan, India and Brazil, as well as a full British carvery.
The Food and Drink Awards seek to recognise the hard work and efforts of those committed to providing communities with the freshest of products and tastes.
They showcase the best restaurants, takeaways, pubs, hotel restaurants, cafes and bistros, as well as those who allow diners to explore new flavours and cuisines from different cultures.

The Food Awards England 2022
A spokesperson for the awards said: “These awards aim to thank those that work hard within the city’s food industry and contribute to making England a great gastronomic place to visit.
“It is true that England combines tastes and flavours from all over the world and the visitors can find different restaurants, gastro pubs and bistros to meet their needs.
“These people enhance the country’s reputation nationally and internationally, and we would like to make sure that the hard work of England’s food professionals doesn’t go unnoticed.
“It was lovely to be part of this celebration and we would like to congratulate all finalists and winners for their achievements.”
