Business leaders to join Vibrant Accountancy founder for Cost of Living event

04/12/2022

Business leaders in Derby are set to come together to share tips and tricks on how to help others combat the rising cost of living.

Hosted by Bev Wakefield, owner of award-winning Vibrant Accountancy, the networking event will include tips and tricks to assist with reducing energy bills and energy consumption.

Bev said: “We’re all feeling the pinch right now as the cost of living continues to rise – but there is help and we will share ways in which business owners can get more cash back into their company through tax efficient methods, best practice for the business and the things that can be done to improve personal situations and that of employees, too.

“They include innovative tax reliefs and tax efficient funding raises where certain businesses can obtain funding from private investors which would, in turn, give the investor favourable tax relief of up to 50% for their investment.”

Bev will also talk about how to help team members with the rising cost of living, without breaking the bank.

She said: “There are tax-free benefits that you could consider adding to your repertoire – but it’s important to remember that not all will be suitable for your business, and understanding which may trigger extract tax.

“They include cycle to work schemes, eye tests, childcare vouchers and electric vehicle salary sacrifice schemes.

“With Christmas coming up, it is the perfect time to reward workers. Companies are allowed to provide trivial benefits – gifts up to £50 – that are exempt from tax and National Insurance contributions.

“There are conditions, though; the cost of providing the benefit must not exceed £50 including VAT, it can’t be cash or a cash voucher and it cannot be part of employment conditions, or recognition of service. It is commonly used as a staff gift for Christmas, or a meal to celebrate birthdays.

“Times may be tough but I can’t stress enough the importance of taking care of your team; paid self-care days, flexible working and time off for mental health are in the top 10 most valued employee benefits, according to Forbes magazine.”
