Act now – Axess Systems urge UK organisations to protect their assets as National Cyber Security Centre issues stark warning

08/04/2022

ACT now, is the advice from a leading IT firm after the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) issued a warning in the wake of Russia’s unprovoked attack on Ukraine.

Although the NCSC says it is not aware of any current specific threats to UK organisations, it has issued guidance that includes reviewing system back-ups, ensuring cyber defences are in place and checking your internet footprint.

Award-winning IT firm Axess Systems, which has its headquarters in Derbyshire, is offering free remote working security assessments that will check for weaknesses in how remote workers access their IT systems.

As one of the country’s leading IT service providers, Axess Systems has worked with public sector organisations, financial businesses and education establishments and have experts who run security assessments and provide specialist 24/7 support.

Operations Director Heath Roberts is urging organisations to book a free remote working security assessment and suggests that any surplus budget IT leaders may have is used on bolstering the security of their IT systems.

“We have seen first-hand with clients how disruptive and worrying cyberattacks can be,” said Heath, “we have worked with financial institutions and public sector organisations who had vulnerabilities in their systems. This could have led to significant consequences had we not discovered these and dealt with the weaknesses.

“The advice from the NCSC is simple, act now. Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, and with more people working remotely, we have seen several complex cyber security incidents.”

“These incidents aren’t just limited to Ransomware. Attackers are exploiting weak cyber practices to gain unauthorised access to IT systems without the knowledge of the organisation concerned and by doing this, they have the potential to harvest information and data.”

“While ransomware is the headline grabbing problem for organisations, having a reliable, immutable IT backup, means most organisations should be able to recover following a ransomware attack.”

“What we want to offer with this free security assessment is to demonstrate to organisations that cyber security is far more than dealing with malicious email phishing attacks. Cyber resilience and Information Security covers every aspect of an organisation from its people, the processes deployed, and technology implemented. This assessment identifies potential risks in how users access their IT systems when they are working remotely. And thereby assists IT leaders to prevent unauthorised access attacks like this happening.”
