HUGE queues are expected this weekend when a Derby doughnut company joins forces with a popular brownie maker at a sugar-fuelled one-off pop-up event.
Luxury doughnut makers Project D have invited Leeds-based The Savvy Baker, which offers a range of cakes, cookies and brownies, to join them on Saturday.
People queued for more than 90 minutes at a similar event held in Leeds last weekend with socially-distanced lines stretching back more than a mile.
Foodies will also be able to try deep-filled lamb, beef or chicken kebabs from Kebab Cartel at Saturday’s event, which will be held at Rolls-Royce Leisure Centre, in Moor Lane, Allenton.

It has not been announced which treats will be available, but previous creations by The Savvy Baker include Mars Bar brookies, cookie bars stuffed with White Oreo dairy milk, gooey Rolo brownies and white Twix brownies.
The company was set up by 24-year-old Savannah Roqaa, a former nanny, during the first lockdown. She now has a successful online business, six full-time staff working around the clock to keep up the demand and celebrity clients such as Leeds and England player Kalvin Philips.
Max Poynton, from award-winning bakers Project D, said: “We always have queues at our pop-ups but the collaboration with The Savvy Baker last weekend was unbelievable – we have never seen a response like it.
“The fact that people were willing to queue for 90 minutes shows just how popular sweet treats are at the moment – I think everyone is in desperate need of a lift.
“And it’s great to collaborate with other young companies like ours, people who are working really hard, keeping a positive mindset and trying to push boundaries with their products.”
*The pop-up will start at 11am and continue until 7pm, or until the companies have sold-out.
