Hot House Music musician pays tribute to Joseph Wright in new song release for Marketing Derby Business Event

09/03/2021

A TOP musician who has worked with well-known artists in the industry has written an emotive piece of music for the annual Marketing Derby Business Event.

Called ‘Wright-Oh’ in honour of Derby’s most famous artist, Joseph Wright, the piece was written by Andy Allen and performed by bondholders Hot House Music at the request of Marketing Derby chairman, John Forkin, during the event’s ‘Dare To Dream’ finale.

Jon Eno, CEO of not-for-profit Hot House Music, said: “Andy has written the piece to accompany a showreel which shows Marketing Derby’s vision for the city and it is perfect; very jaunty, happy, jazzy, of course…just what we all need right now after a very challenging year.”

Hot House Music, whose former pupils have gone on to work with chart-topper Lewis Capaldi and Noel Gallagher, is looking forward to continued growth this year after a record-breaking 2020 in which it grew by 17.5%.

The not-for-profit organisation, founded in Derby in 2002, has schools across the UK with plans to open up branches in Singapore, Texas and Lyon over the next 12 months. As well as producing talented musicians, alumni include a heart surgeon and scientist who worked on the Oxford coronavirus vaccination.

Jon Eno praised the way in which Hot House Music staff worked around the clock when the UK went into lockdown last March, moving all of their lessons online in just 72 hours.

He believes that having online lessons made Hot House Music more accessible – but can’t wait to get back to face-to-face teaching.

He said: “I’m really grateful for technology, which has allowed us to continue to provide lessons to our pupils across the country. We’ve worked hard on ensuring that our content is accessible for everyone, including those with special needs, who find music therapeutic.

“I do, though, miss the face-to-face lessons and performances. You can’t beat that kind of interaction and I can’t wait to see my pupils ‘in person’ but the technology which we have available to us in 2021 is incredible.”

Jon shared his love of music with students at the University of Derby recently and is also working with fellow bondholder Derbyshire Institute of Sport to launch SoulTV; an exciting subscription-only television channel with an emphasis on creating feel-good content.

He says that SoulTV will be “like Netflix but with feel-good content on there, which is focussed around music, sport and food.”
