A bakery which delivers to doorsteps across the region has come up with a wizard idea to celebrate Halloween with a range of Harry Potter-inspired doughnuts – which are flying off the shelves faster than a Nimbus 2000.
Project D, which delivers hand-decorated doughnuts across the region, has created a box of four doughnuts – called the Platform 9 and 4 Quarters Box – which has proved to be the firm’s best-selling collection of all time.
Inside is a doughnut named the Cornelius Fudge, named after the novel’s Minister of Magic, which has a toffee fudge base, topped with extra chunks of fudge. While the Gryffindoreo, inspired by Harry Potter’s school house, is topped in the Gryffindor colours and a golden Oreo.
The Bellatwix Lestrange doughnut has a white and milk chocolate marble base topped with a double chocolate Twix, and The Golden Snitch doughnut has a vanilla base, topped with a Ferrero Rocher snitch and raspberry and vanilla wings.

Since the limited-edition range was introduced last week more than two-thirds of Project D’s orders have been for the magical doughnuts and staff are upping production to keep up with demand.
Co-owner Jacob Watts said: “We absolutely love having fun with our range and we’d already produced a Halloween box complete with a Jack O’Lantern bright orange pumpkin doughnut and another called Down in the Dirt which is covered in crushed Oreos to look like earth, topped with three gummy worms.
“But whether you’re a muggle or a magician, it seems that everyone loves Harry Potter and we’ve never had so many pre-orders for one range before. They are quite intricate designs, which take a bit of time to make, but I guarantee they’re even better than Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans.
“So, if you’re still waiting for your letter from Hogwarts, we suggest you obliviate your woes with some of our doughnuts – they’re magic.”

Project D, which changes the flavours of its doughnuts every six weeks and also offers a vegan range, delivers to doorsteps across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Staffordshire and Yorkshire.
Their boxes are biodegradable and compostable, while the doughnuts are brightly-coloured and hugely popular on social media – Project D has 46k followers on Instagram alone.
The Harry Potter-inspired doughnuts are only available online until October 31st, so customers may need to get their fireplaces connected to the Floo Network and act quickly.
The box of four doughnuts, which costs £11, is predicted to sell out quicker than you can say “quidditch”.
