Positive response to Barron McCann’s EV charging maintenance service

30/09/2024

A leading technology firm with an unrivalled number of field engineers has been inundated with interest in its newly announced electric vehicle (EV) charging maintenance service and is continuing to recruit to keep up with demand.

Barron McCann, an independent provider of IT maintenance, installations and managed services for companies including Pets at Home, Iceland and Papa Johns, unveiled its move into the sector at the EV Summit.

The company, which has its headquarters in Derby, provides IT field services across 17 countries, ensuring equipment is available and fully operational for firms in the retail, education, hospitality, banking and travel sectors.

Its award-winning 24-7 help desk and nationwide team of engineers means that the company is ready to deliver guaranteed incident response times to keep charging points operational.

The launch of Barron McCann’s EV charging maintenance service comes at a critical time as the adoption of electric vehicles continues to surge across the UK and Europe.

Charging point operators are also seeking compliance with the UK Public Charge Point Regulations which require an average network reliability of 99% for rapid charge points.

Scott Watson, Managing Director at Barron McCann, said: “We are thrilled with the enthusiastic response to our charge point support service and we are in advanced talks with charge point operators, original equipment manufacturers and fleet managers.

“To meet the growing demand, we are expanding our team and looking for experienced staff who are passionate about sustainability and innovation.

“We know that charger downtime is preventing many charge point operators from maximising the potential of their installed infrastructure – and we already have the capability to deliver guaranteed incident response times to ensure the uptime of devices and compliance with the Public Charge Point Regulations.

“We can help keep charge points operational around the clock because our engineers are permanently deployed across the UK ready to attend fault calls, backed by our extensive parts logistics infrastructure and experts in our technical support team.”

The Barron McCann group of companies has gone through a period of growth over the past 12 months, now boasting a collective revenue of £50m and offering a diverse array of services.

These include charity retail solutions, managed services, remote monitoring, retail software, field service engineering, hardware consultancy/resale and expert HR and employment law advisory solutions.

Privately owned by businessman Alan Watson, the Barron McCann group of companies provides these services to customers throughout the United Kingdom and Europe.

Earlier this year, Nottingham-based Retail Assist – whose clients include Selfridges and Harvey Nichols – joined the group.
