BLACK Friday may have been a disappointment across the UK with sales failing to meet expectations but a Derby digital marketing agency has bucked the trend.
Alphageek Digital mounted around £150,000 worth of campaigns on behalf of its clients who saw returns of more than 10-times their investments during the day and the following weekend.
The Friar Gate-based firm brought in a revenue of just over £1.5m across just 10 of its clients, generating almost 800,000 engagements, nearly 195,000 clicks and more than 6,000 leads.
The success is despite a national picture which saw store footfall decline by 5% across retail destinations while online traffic was down 12% according to data intelligence platform Similarweb.
Asos’s Black Friday traffic was reportedly down by 43%, while Boohoo-owned brand PrettyLittleThing saw the biggest decline with traffic plunging by 45%.
Alphageek’s Black Friday success comes on the back of a Google Ads campaign for leading sportwear firm HUUB which brought in a record-breaking £1m of revenue.
The award-winning firm, which is run by young entrepreneurs Art Lindop, Kieran Flynn and Alex Mills, had been preparing Black Friday campaigns for its clients, which include Casio’s G-SHOCK watches and donotage.org
Managing director Art Lindop said: “We are absolutely delighted with the success of our Black Friday campaigns and have had some fantastic feedback from our very happy ecommerce clients.
“The absolute key to Black Friday success is planning ahead and by that we mean starting to prepare for 2024 right now, we’re already talking to our existing clients about this time next year.
“Of course, there will still be plenty of sales between now and New Year, but even if nationally Black Friday sales dipped slightly, it’s still the most important weekend of the year for any online retailer.”
