AN award-winning special needs organisation has strengthened its team with a trio of new starters.
Jess Gould, Jessica Mead and Jayne Gissing have joined Sunshine Support, which is based in Derby. The organisation helps parents, carers and professionals who support young people with SEND (special educational needs and disabilities).
Jess has been appointed as personal assistant to managing director Chrissa Wadlow, Jessica Mead joins as an events co-ordinator and Jayne is Sunshine Support’s new independent social worker and advocate.
Chrissa, who founded Sunshine Support in 2017 after a battle to secure her daughter a suitable education provision, said: “I am over the moon with our new appointments, who bring a wealth of experience with them, plus a sense of compassion, care and fun.
“It has been an extremely busy year for us and Jess, Jayne and Jessica will be a huge asset to Sunshine Support.”
Jayne, a qualified teacher and social worker, will primarily focus on supporting families with their social work needs relating to special educational needs, whilst Jessica will oversee in-person and online training events, networking and social events.
Jess, meanwhile, will undertake mainly administrative jobs within the organisation and has settled into the role well.
She said: “I have loved my first few weeks of working at Sunshine Support and, as the mum of a child with SEND, I know first-hand of the support needed for parents such as myself.
“Working for Sunshine Support gives the flexibility I need when also having a child with additional needs.
“I work within a team who understand that hospital appointments can come up regularly, and I have a child who may get sick often, it’s such a wonderful opportunity within such an inclusive team.”
